April Divin

Ms. Divin grew up in Midlothian, a suburb of Dallas, Texas, graduating from Midlothian High School in 2008. She was active in Choir from an early age, going on to make the All-State Mixed Choir in 2008. Attending college at Sam Houston State University, she continued to grow her passion for vocal performance and choral music; singing lead roles in their opera program (under the direction of Alan Hicks) and in the Sam Houston State Chorale (under the direction of Dr. James Franklin). Graduating with her BA in Music in 2012, she went on to start her teaching career at Travis Intermediate School in the Conroe ISD.

During her time at Travis, Ms. Divin lead multiple initiatives in growing the school’s choral program into what it is today. Under her direction, the Travis Timberwolf Choir attended its first contest at the Splashtown Choral Festival in 2014, where they began the new tradition of excellence, receiving superior ratings and various awards each year of their attendance.  In 2018, her choir was announced as the Splashtown Choral Festival Grand Champion, thus rounding out her program’s attendance to this event. The following year, Ms. Divin founded and created the Conroe Choral Festival. This event has provided choirs in Conroe ISD and surrounding districts with a more “U.I.L.-like” experience. Helping thousands of students, the Conroe Choral Festival has given the opportunity for schools with any budget to have a positive and educational first encounter with measuring excellence at an event.

While Ms. Divin has been involved in the CHS feeder community for 10 years now, she is excited to continue her journey as an educator at Conroe High School this upcoming school year. Anticipating her new role as an Assistant Choir Director in their choral program, she is looking forward to joining a team that carries a reputation of holding rigorous expectations and a supportive atmosphere.

Ms. Divin currently resides in Montgomery, Tx with her cat Pippington Franklin. She loves to go hiking and spend time outdoors. Some of her other passions include traveling, pizza, Netflix, interior design and going to the gym.
